What is business e-waste?
Business e-waste includes the technology your organisation no longer needs whether it is outdated, damaged, non-functional or being replaced. At VAS Consults, we focus on ICT equipment, including computers, laptops, servers, storage drives, monitors, printers, mobile phones, networking equipment and related accessories but we also handle other electronics like washing machines, kettles, photocopiers, TVs, batteries and lighting. E-waste is generally classed as ‘hazardous’.
Is your outdated IT equipment ready for replacement? Then it's essential to dispose of it securely and responsibly. VAS Consults helps businesses, government agencies, schools and other institutions in Uganda achieve this through IT Asset Disposition (ITAD), secure data erasure and responsible ICT e-waste management.
From individual devices to office clear-outs and data centre decommissioning, we arrange collection, record equipment and maintain a documented chain of custody. Depending on the equipment and your requirements, we provide on-site or off-site data erasure, degaussing or physical destruction of storage media, supported by records and certificates for the work completed.
Equipment suitable for reuse is assessed for refurbishment and value recovery. Items that cannot be reused are directed through appropriate recycling and final disposal channels.
Whether you are upgrading your systems or clearing a store of obsolete equipment, VAS Consults helps you manage the entire retirement process with attention to data security, accountability and environmental responsibility
Your organisation’s responsibility for its ICT equipment continues when that equipment is retired. Under Uganda’s National Environment (Waste Management) Regulations, 2020, waste generators have a duty of care to manage waste securely and without harming people or the environment. VAS Consults helps you put these responsibilities into practice through secure collection, asset tracking, data erasure and responsible recovery or disposal, protecting your information and supporting accountable asset management.

If you produce, distribute or sell electricals you also have a legal obligation to help your customers recycle their unwanted tech and electricals.
Let us know which equipment you want to dispose of. A detailed list is helpful but not required. Together we’ll determine the transport and processing needs.
Our own team collects the equipment using secure transport. If needed, we provide sealed containers or bins for additional protection.
Each device is carefully registered upon arrival and linked to a project number. If data carriers are present, they are immediately set aside for secure handling.
Devices with storage are either wiped or physically destroyed. For each serial number, you receive an official certificate. Even defective hardware is processed securely.
Any equipment that is still usable is prepared for reuse. Remaining parts are responsibly recycled. After completion, you receive a clear report summarising the results.
Protect your business’s future with proper data destruction services. No matter where or how your data is stored, secure data erasure is essential to protecting trade secrets and sensitive personal or customer information.

VAS Consults offers secure, discreet, and environmentally responsible hard-drive shredding and data sanitization services, available both on-site and off-site. Our services are designed to meet your business needs while complying with Uganda’s data protection and environmental regulations.
Our on-site data destruction services allow your organization to witness the destruction process firsthand. Each hard drive or storage device is inventoried by our technicians before being securely destroyed using mobile shredding equipment, ensuring that data cannot be recovered.
Off-site data destruction is carried out by our trained and certified technicians at secure processing facilities. All data-bearing assets are inventoried before destruction, and the process is completed using modern shredding and data destruction technologies that meet high security standards.

Retiring old hardware is a common challenge for data centers and IT departments. Frequent technology upgrades leave internal teams with the complex task of decommissioning outdated equipment while ensuring sensitive data is securely destroyed.
Reduce the workload on your internal IT and data center teams by letting VAS Consults manage your retired enterprise assets. We handle inventory, decommissioning, and secure data destruction in line with approved security protocols and industry best practices.

Work with suppliers with strong environmental practices to reduce your impact – and check for evidence of their WEEE compliance. This will also reduce your indirect (Scope 3) carbon footprint.

Conduct a clear, current inventory of all IT and electrical equipment . Accurately tracking the asset’s age, condition, and location simplifies planning for future maintenance, reuse, or compliant recycling . This proactive approach ensures assets are managed efficiently before they become an emergency waste stream. Our goal is to make it easy for everyone to understand how to act .
